NCAA outdoor games in the modern era

The modern era of outdoor hockey games began at the NCAA level with the 2001 “Cold War” between Michigan and Michigan State, held at Spartan Stadium before a then-record crowd of 74,544.

Since then, dozens of NCAA Division I men’s teams have played outdoor games at venues from Coors Field in Denver to Fenway Park in Boston.
