Spengler Cup Schedule Unveiled
U.S. Collegiate Selects Open vs. Canada

The schedule for the 2025 Spengler Cup has been released, and the United States Collegiate Selects will face Team Canada to open play on December 26. Each team will play a minimum of three contests and maximum of five during the six-day event.
USCS faces a Canadian team made up of players from across professional hockey, including European leagues, the AHL and ECHL. Puck drop is set for 8:15pm local time in Davos (2:15pm ET). The contest follows defending champion HC Fribourg-Gotteron (Switzerland) vs. HC Sparta Praha (Czechia), which opens the six-team tournament at 3:10pm (9:10am ET).
The winner of the USCS-Team Canada game will get a coveted day before taking on host HC Davos (Switzerland) at 8:15pm (2:15pm ET) on December 28. The loser will have to play back-to-back nights, facing HC Davos at 8:15pm (2:15pm ET) on December 27.
If the USCS opens 2-0, they are off until December 29 at 3:10pm (9:10am ET). Any defeat along the way will add games to the schedule and any pair of losses after opening night will eliminate the team from the competition.
The tournament is being broadcast to over 20 countries, either through a partner or via livestream. Official word on how the games can be seen in the United States will be announced at a later date.
The U.S. Collegiate Select team will be made up of 25 student-athletes from across NCAA men’s ice hockey, with each conference being represented. The competition runs from December 26-31, with the six participating teams. Along with the Selects, host HC Davos, Team Canada, HC Fribourg-Gotteron, Sparta Praha and IFK Helsinki will be taking part in the 2025 edition.
This will be the second time an American-based select team has taken part in the Spengler Cup, following a U.S. squad that won the tournament in 1988.
