Men’s Notes: Ivy Teams Ready to Drop Puck
Foley, Dartmouth Look to Defend Last Year’s Crown

As October gives way to November this weekend, college hockey’s six Ivy League teams are ready to take to the ice for the first time in 2025-26.
All five Ivies will make their regular-season debuts this weekend, including a head-to-head matchup Sunday between Dartmouth and Yale. Dartmouth will also travel to Stonehill on Saturday prior to the Yale clash.
The Big Green captured last year’s Ivy League championship – it’s first since 2007 – after going 8-2-0. Junior defenseman CJ Foley (Hanover, Mass.) returns to Dartmouth after being named 2024-25 Ivy League Player of the Year.
Other Ivy League action this weekend includes Cornell at UMass, Harvard at UConn (Friday only), Brown at Air Force, and Princeton hosting Alaska.
Harvard welcomes back 2024-25 Ivy League Rookie of the Year Mick Thompson (So., Toronto, Ontario), who posted 14 goals and 32 points in 33 games overall as a freshman.

Century Club:
A pair of upperclassmen – Penn State F Aiden Fink (Jr., Calgary, Alberta) and St. Thomas F Lucas Wahlin (Sr., Woodbury, Minn.) – are closing in on becoming the nation’s next active players to reach the 100-career point milestone:
Career NCAA Points Leaders (active)
131 – T.J. Hughes, Michigan
117 – Jeremy Wilmer, Quinnipiac
96 – Aiden Fink, Penn State
96 – Lucas Wahlin, St. Thomas
92 – Andre Gasseau, Boston College
Sibling Rivalry:
As noted by Western Michigan SID Zachary Manning in this week’s game notes, Friday’s NCHC game between WMU and St. Cloud State will mark the first collegiate meeting for brothers Ty Henricks (So., Mission Viejo, Calif.) and Tanner Henricks (Fr., Mission Viejo, Calif.).
The Henricks brothers, both of whom are NHL draft picks, have three goals and 10 points between them so far this season.
That’s a Fact, Jack!:
Last year as a freshman at Colgate, F Jack Brandt (So., Columbus, Ohio) registered two goals and seven points in 31 games. This season, he’s already blown those totals out of the water by the end of October.
Brandt has burst out of the gates with five goals and 10 points in his first six games, putting him at the top of the ECAC Hockey scoring race. He also leads the league in points per game (1.67), and his four power-play goals are tied for second nationally.
In last weekend’s non-conference split at No. 10 Maine, Brandt scored three of the Raiders’ five goals in the series with two of them coming on the power play. He was later named ECAC Hockey Forward of the Week for the second straight time.
Dominance in the Dot:
St. Cloud State junior F Tyson Gross (Calgary, Alberta) tied an NCAA season-high Friday when he won 20 faceoffs against Alaska Anchorage, winning all but two of his attempts in a 5-2 victory. He did it again the very next night, winning 20 of 25 draws to help the Huskies secure the non-conference sweep.
After his 40-7 performance against the Seawolves, Gross has now won a nation’s-best 69.4 percent of his faceoffs, and his 102 total wins (147 attempts) are tied with Western Michigan’s Owen Michaels (Jr., Detroit, Mich.) for the NCAA lead.
Gross has also reached the scoresheet in all seven SCSU games this season, collecting a goal and eight assists, tying him for the longest active scoring streak in the country.

NHL Note of the Week:
Former BostonUniversity D Tom Willander (Stockholm, Sweden) made his NHL debut with Vancouver on Tuesday in a 2-0 loss to the New York Rangers. He registered two shots on goal in just under 13 minutes of ice time.
Willander became the eighth NCAA alumni this month to make his NHL debut, and he’s already the fourth member of last year’s Boston University team to play in the NHL (Ryan Greene, Quinn Hutson, Devin Kaplan).
Fries at the Bottom of the Bag:
St. Cloud State has gone a scorching 9-for-15 (60 percent) on the power play over the last three games. The Huskies have scored with the man advantage in all seven games this season, including four contests with multiple PPG … Denver is perfect on the penalty kill through six games, thwarting all 16 of its opponents’ opportunities … Miami (6-0-0) is off to its best start since winning its first eight games in 2007-08. The RedHawks host Arizona State to open NCHC play this weekend … Sacred Heart senior F Felix Trudeau (Terrebonne, Quebec) scored both goals in the Pioneers’ 2-1 overtime win at No. 14/15 Ohio State last Friday. Trudeau tied it with a power-play goal late in the third period and struck for the game-winner 23 seconds into overtime … Bemidji State’s Raythan Robbins (Jr., Anchorage, Alaska) and Bentley’s Nicholas Bevilacqua (So., Abington, Mass.) recorded their first NCAA shutouts last weekend. Robbins stopped 27 shots in Friday’s 1-0 win over Augustana, while Bevilacqua made 22 saves Saturday in a 3-0 win over Canisius … St. Thomas freshman F Nathan Pilling (Calgary, Alberta) scored the first-ever goal in UST’s new Lee and Penny Anderson Arena, converting on a short-handed breakaway in Friday’s 2-2 overtime tie with No. 14/15 Providence.
