The United States Collegiate Selects hockey team has announced the addition of two players to the 2025 Spengler Cup roster on Thursday, and Jack Musa (UMass) and Zam Plante (Minnesota Duluth) have been selected. The pair joins the 10 student-athletes previously named to the team, which will compete in Davos in December.

Musa, a junior forward from Orange Park, Fla., leads the Minutemen in points with 12 on six goals and six assists and ranks sixth in the nation in points per-game (1.71), first in Hockey East and 10th in the nation in goals per-game (0.86), second in Hockey East. UMass’ top returning scorer, he put up 35 points last season, appearing in all 40 games and contributing 18 goals and 17 assists. For his career, he has registered 76 points in 84 games on 36 goals and 40 assists.

A sophomore forward out of Hermantown, Minn., Plante currently ranks seventh nationally with 12 points on five goals and seven assists. He is also second in the NCAA with four power-play tallies and is second in faceoff wins (97) and 10th in points per game (1.50 ppg). His father – former UMD great Derek Plante – also played in the Spengler Cup in 2002, competing with HC Davos where he had five assists in five games.

The 10 players who had already been named to the USCS team included: Penn State’s Charlie Cerrato, Aiden Fink and Mac Gadowsky, Cole Knuble and Danny Nelson from Notre Dame, Michigan’s T.J. Hughes, Jake Livanavage from North Dakota, Joey Muldowney of UConn, Eric Pohlkamp from Denver, and Minnesota State’s Alex Tracy.

The United States Collegiate Selects will face Team Canada to open play Spengler Cup play on December 26. Each team will play a minimum of three contests and maximum of five during the six-day event.

The tournament is being broadcast to over 20 countries, either through a partner or via livestream. Official word on how the games can be seen in the United States will be announced at a later date.

The U.S. Collegiate Select team will be made up of 25 student-athletes from across NCAA men’s ice hockey. The competition runs from December 26-31, with the six participating teams. Along with the Selects, host HC Davos, Team Canada, HC Fribourg-Gotteron, Sparta Praha and IFK Helsinki will be taking part in the 2025 edition.
