Trio of College Hockey Staffers Join U.S. Collegiate Selects
Assistant Coach, Strength Coach, Videographer Added to Spengler Staff

The United States Collegiate Selects hockey team has announced the final three members of its support staff and Chase Engdahl (Dartmouth), Simon French (Maine) and Evan Moorhouse (Brown) have been named to the group headed to the 2025 Spengler Cup.
The trio will provide their expertise to a team that is the first of its kind, participating in the 97th edition of the prestigious international event in Davos, Switzerland, this December.
Engdahl was added to the USCS staff as the team’s Strength & Conditioning Coach – a position he currently holds at Dartmouth College – working with the men’s and women’s hockey programs since the start of the 2025-26 season. Prior to joining the Big Green, he worked in a similar capacity at the University of Minnesota Duluth and as the Director of Hockey Performance at Vermont. Before jumping into the college ranks, he spent two years as an assistant strength and conditioning coach with the Colorado Avalanche.
Joining the USCS staff as the Photographer/Videographer from the Black Bears, French has aided in the release of the team’s roster throughout the fall. Maine’s technical director for all broadcasts since 2019, he was named the Digital Media Assistant for Broadcast Operations in 2021, before becoming Director of Creative Content in 2022. Before coming to Maine, he was a media assistant at his alma mater, Husson University, from 2018-20.
Moorhouse is in his third season as an Assistant Coach and seventh as the 1976 Hall of Fame Hockey Team Director of Operations at Brown University. His coaching duties involve working with the team’s goaltenders, including helping Lawton Zacher become a Mike Richter Award Semifinalist, a Hobey Baker Award nominee, and a Walter Brown Award nominee last season. Prior to joining the Bears, he served as the Director of Hockey Operations at the University of Vermont for two seasons. He is a 2016 graduate of Westfield State, where he played baseball and hockey.
The U.S. College Selects 25-player roster consists of 15 forwards, seven defensemen, and three goaltenders. Nine are from the Big Ten, six are from Hockey East, six are from the NCHC, two are from the CCHA and one representative each are coming from ECAC Hockey and AHA.

Hughes (Michigan), Cole Knuble (Notre Dame), Martins Lavins (New Hampshire), Joey Muldowney (UConn), Jack Musa (UMass), Danny Nelson (Notre Dame), Zam Plante (Minnesota Duluth), Jack Stockfish (Holy Cross), Ryan Walsh (Cornell), JJ Wiebusch (Penn State).
Defensemen (7): Vinny Borgesi (Northeastern), Mac Gadowsky (Penn State), Larry Keenan (UMass), Jake Livanavage (North Dakota), Gavin McCarthy (Boston University), Eric Pohlkamp (Denver), Abram Wiebe (North Dakota).
Goaltenders (3): Adam Gajan (Minnesota Duluth), Josh Kotai (Augustana), Alex Tracy (Minnesota State).
All returning First and Second-Team AHCA/CCM All-Americans received an automatic invitation to the team. The remainder of the roster, which includes representation from all six conferences, was constructed by the USCS coaching staff and organizing committee, with guidance from the NHL scouts.
The United States Collegiate Selects will face Team Canada to open play Spengler Cup play on December 26. Each team will play a minimum of three contests and maximum of five during the six-day event.
The tournament is being broadcast to over 20 countries, either through a partner or via livestream. Official word on how the games can be seen in the United States will be announced at a later date.
The U.S. Collegiate Select team is made up of 25 student-athletes from across NCAA men’s ice hockey. The competition runs from December 26-31, with the six participating teams. Along with the Selects, host HC Davos, Team Canada, HC Fribourg-Gotteron, Sparta Praha and IFK Helsinki will be taking part in the 2025 edition.
