UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Wisconsin senior defender Caroline Harvey has been named the 2026 recipient of the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, given annually to the most outstanding player in NCAA Division I women’s hockey.

The announcement was made live Saturday on NHL Network from the NCAA Frozen Four.

Harvey, a native of Salem, N.H., was the WCHA Player of the Year and Defender of the Year in 2025-26 and is averaging an NCAA-leading 1.41 assists per game. She has 18 goals and 45 assists in 32 contests this season, ranking fourth in the national scoring race with 63 points.

Harvey is just the third defender ever to win the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award and the seventh player in Badger history to capture the award.

In Wisconsin’s overtime win over Penn State in the NCAA Frozen Four semifinal Friday, Harvey assisted on the game-winning goal for her 200th career point.

Harvey won a gold medal with the United States at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in February.

Earlier this week, UConn graduate student Tia Chan was named 2025-26 Women’s College Hockey Goalie of the Year by the Hockey Commissioners Association, while Clarkson forward Sara Manness and Ohio State forward Hilda Svensson were both named co-recipients of the Julie Chu Women’s National Rookie of the Year award.

Chan, who hails from Hamilton, Ontario, ranks among the top five nationally in wins (27), save percentage (.951), minutes played (2252:25), and goals against average (1.55).

Manness, a native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, was the ECAC Hockey Player of the Year after ranking second in her conference in scoring with 52 points in 35 games. Svensson, who hails from Oskarshamn, Sweden, leads the top-seeded Buckeyes in scoring with 51 points in 32 games and was the WCHA Rookie of the Year.

Additionally, Penn State head coach Jeff Kampersal was named CCM/AHCA Women’s University Division Coach of the Year. Kampersal guided the Nittany Lions to the first Frozen Four berth in program history and a school-record 33 wins.

The 2025-26 CCM Hockey/AHCA Division I Women’s All-America Teams were also unveiled Saturday, with Harvey earning her fourth career All-America accolade (full list below).

Sunday’s NCAA Frozen Four championship game between Ohio State and Wisconsin can be seen on ESPNU and ESPN+ in the United States, and on TSN+ in Canada. The puck drops at 4 p.m. ET.
