2026 Spengler Cup Schedule Revealed
U.S. Collegiate Selects open against Frölunda HC of Sweden on Dec. 26;
tournament runs through Dec. 31 in Davos, Switzerland

The schedule for the 2026 Spengler Cup was unveiled on Thursday, with the United States Collegiate Selects (USCS) set to make a second straight trip to the prestigious invitational tournament in Davos, Switzerland.
The USCS will open play at the 98th edition of the Spengler Cup on Saturday, Dec. 26 against Frölunda HC, which is based in Gothenburg, Sweden and won the 2026 European Champions Hockey League. The U.S. Collegiate Selects are once again in Group Cattini, and will also face host HC Davos on either Dec. 27 or Dec. 28 depending on the result against Frölunda HC. The USCS finished atop Group Cattini in its inaugural showing last year.
All Group Cattini games will begin at 8:15 p.m. local time (CET)/2:15 p.m. ET.
Also participating in the 2026 Spengler Cup are SC Langnau Tigers out of Switzerland, Adler Mannheim from Germany, and Ilves Tampere from Finland. Those three teams compose Group Torriani.
Each team at the Spengler Cup will play at least three games and a maximum of five during the six-day event, which runs through Dec. 31. The Pre-Semifinals, which feature the second- and third-place teams in each group, will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 29. The winners of those games advance to face the first-place teams from Group Cattini and Group Torriani in the Semifinals on Dec. 30. The Championship Game is the following day on Thursday, Dec. 31.
The U.S. Collegiate Selects are looking to make a return run to the final after finishing as the runner-up at the 2025 Spengler Cup in its first appearance. The USCS will get a rematch against HC Davos after facing the hosts twice last year, winning in group play before falling in the championship game. The Collegiate Selects also defeated HC Sparta Praha from Czechia in the semifinals in 2025.
The Spengler Cup is the oldest invitational hockey tournament in the world, with the first edition held in 1923. The annual competition is held each December between Christmas and New Year’s in Davos, Switzerland and features six teams from Europe and North America competing at the Eisstadion Davos. Hosts HC Davos have the most titles with 17, including last year.
The coaching staff and roster for the 2026 U.S. Collegiate Selects will be announced in the coming months. The roster will feature 25 student-athletes from all six NCAA Division I conferences.
Advance sales for single-game tickets for the 98th Spengler Cup will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026. Ticket packages for all 11 games can be ordered in mid-July. For more information on the Spengler Cup, visit www.spenglercup.ch/en.
